Have Questions? We’ve Got Answers!
Have questions about Brazilian waxing or Sugaring? Our FAQ page covers everything you need to know before booking your appointment. From how to prepare for your sugaring services to understanding the benefits of sugar vs. waxing, we make sure you feel confident every step of the way.
-
Sugaring is a natural and gentle method of hair removal that uses a paste made from just sugar, water and lemon. The paste is applied at body temperature, eliminating the risk of burns. It’s applied in the opposite direction of hair growth to effectively wrap around the hairs and then flicked off in the direction of growth. This technique helps prevent breakage, leaving your skin smooth, hair-free, and irritation- free.
-
The main difference between the two comes down to the ingredients, technique, and overall experience. Waxing uses a heated sticky resin applied to the skin in the same direction of hair growth and removed against the growth. Sugaring uses a luke-warm natural paste of sugar, lemon, and water, applied in the opposite direction of growth and removed with the hair, making it gentler, less painful, and easier on the skin.
-
Sugaring is an excellent option for sensitive skin. The paste is natural, non-toxic, and hypoallergenic making it suitable for most skin types, even those who cannot wax or shave. Because the sugar is removed in the direction of hair growth, it minimizes trauma and irritation. Additionally, the paste is water-soluble, so any residue can easily be rinsed away with warm water.

To prepare for your sugaring appointment:
Gently exfoliate the area 24-48 hours prior to loosen any trapped hairs.
Wear loose clothing and cotton underwear to minimize irritation afterward.
Limit caffeine, alcohol (hangovers included) and marijuana use, as it can contribute to sensitivity.
If you currently shave, allow 14 to 21 days of hair growth for the best results.
Avoid using heavy lotions, oils, makeup and deodorants on the treatment areas these can interfere with the sugaring process.
If you are concerned about discomfort, you can take an ibuprofen 30-60 minutes before your appointment, at your discretion.
-
To keep your skin smooth and prevent ingrown hairs, exfoliate starting 3 days after your appointment and 2-3 times a week. For the first 24 hours post-sugaring, avoid touching the area with unwashed hands and steer clear of activities that could introduce bacteria, such as sexual activity, tanning, hot showers, exercise, tight clothing, and swimming in pools or open waters. Keep your skin moisturized daily or as needed to maintain hydration.
-
Yes, sugaring is completely safe during pregnancy! However, keep in mind that pregnancy can make your skin more sensitive. If it is your first time having hair removed from the root, we recommend waiting until your second trimester for added comfort. When in doubt, consult with your OB to ensure you’re feeling confident and safe.
-
Yes, you can! For Brazilian, bikini and buttock services wearing a tampon is required during your appointment. Please note that your skin may feel more sensitive during this time. For your convenience, we provide fresh tampons and wipes to ensure your comfort and hygiene throughout the service.
-
We recommend scheduling your sugaring appointments every 4 to 6 weeks, unless otherwise discussed with your esthetician.
-
No, trimming before your appointment isn’t necessary. Hair should be at least ¼ inch long (about the length of a grain of rice) for the sugar to grip effectively. If the hair is longer, that’s ok—your esthetician will trim it for you if needed to ensure the best results.
-
Everyone is different. We all have different hair growth cycles. Many clients experience 2 to 3 weeks, some less, some more. It takes about 3-4 consistent sugaring sessions to get on the same growth cycle which typically results in a longer period of smoothness. Hair will grow back softer and finer with each sugaring.

No, this is not required at Kia’s Sweet Esthetics. We understand that this can be uncomfortable and/or embarrassing for many clients, so we have you roll onto your side and lift your butt cheek and/or put your knees to your chest to thoroughly remove all the hair.
-
Yes! All of our services are available to clients of all genders and are customized to suit individual needs.
-
This can happen as a natural physical response and is not uncommon, it happens to about 50% of male clientele. This is an adrenal response from the sugaring service that most people have absolutely no control over. It’s really not a problem, as long as you treat your esthetician with respect and understand that they are professionals who are just removing hair, and nothing more. If any inappropriate/sexual remarks, gestures or advances are made, your service will be terminated, you will be asked to leave, and you will be banned from booking again. Kia’s Sweet Esthetics is a strictly professional business, please conduct yourself accordingly.
-
Male Brazilian services typically require more time, product, and precision due to differences in hair density, growth patterns, and the areas being treated. Pricing reflects the level of detail and care involved in the service.
-
