What is sugaring?

Sugaring is a form of hair removal that uses a natural sugaring paste. This paste is made from only 3 ingredients: Sugar, water and lemon. Sugar is always applied at body temperature, so there is never any risk of burning. It is applied against the hair growth to engulf the hairs, then quickly flicked off in the direction of the hair growth (meaning it does not break the hair backward leaving you with smooth, hairless skin).

How can I ensure that my sensitive skin will not be irritated?

Sugaring paste is natural, non-toxic, and hypoallergenic making it great for even the most sensitive skin types. Those who can't wax or shave can normally sugar. Sugar is removed in the direction of hair growth, so this causes less trauma and irritation on the skin. Sugar paste is also water-soluble which means it can easily be removed with warm water.

How do I prepare for a sugaring appointment?

We recommend exfoliating 48 hours prior to your appointment. Wear loose clothing and cotton underwear if possible to avoid chafing and irritation afterwards. If you currently shave, please wait 14-21 days before sugaring to allow the hair to grow out for best results. Avoid wearing any heavy lotion, oils, makeup and deodorants the day of your service as this can affect the results.

What is the aftercare for sugaring?

We recommend exfoliating 3 days after your appointment and 2-3 times a week. This helps keep hair growing up and away from the skin reducing ingrown hairs. Since the pores are open for about 24 hours after sugaring and more susceptible to bacteria, please refrain from touching the sugared area with unwashed hands. Avoid sexual activity, tanning, hot showers, exercise/sweat, tight clothing and open waters (ie. pool, saunas, etc.) for 24 hours. Hydrate as needed with our Healing Oil.

Can I get sugared if I'm pregnant?

Yes! Sugaring is completely safe to do while pregnant. Some things to keep in mind...

  • You will most likely be more sensitive while pregnant.

  • If it is your first time getting hair removed from the root, we suggest waiting until the second trimester.

  • When in doubt, ask your OB.

Can I get sugared on my menstrual cycle?

Yes! During that time you are required to wear a tampon for brazilian, bikini and buttock services. Please be aware that you will be more sensitive during this time.

How often should I get sugared?

We recommend every 4-6, unless discussed otherwise.

How can I ensure that my sensitive skin will not be irritated from sugaring?
